Wing and Walmart Launch Drone Delivery in Greater Orlando
Wing and Walmart have launched drone delivery in Greater Orlando, marking Wing’s first Florida market.
The service gives Central Florida customers access to thousands of everyday Walmart items delivered by drone in as fast as 30 minutes. Eligible products include sunscreen, school supplies, electronics and last-minute ingredients, targeting busy households and visitors during peak summer travel and heat.
Wing is initially serving more than 50,000 homes, businesses and apartment buildings around Walmart Supercenter locations in Apopka and Clermont. The companies plan to expand in the coming weeks to additional Walmart sites in Ocoee, Clermont and Haines City, with broader coverage planned across Central Florida.
The system is built for small, fast orders. Wing drones cruise at 150 to 200 feet and up to 60 mph, then descend to about 20 feet at the delivery point and lower packages by secure tether; flights in Florida currently carry up to 2.5 pounds, with plans to increase capacity to 5 pounds. Customers can check eligibility through the Walmart app, Walmart.com, the Wing app or wing.com/walmart, and select drone delivery when their address is inside the service area.
Florida is the next step in a wider Wing-Walmart expansion following launches in Houston, Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth. The companies are moving toward nearly 20 U.S. metro areas, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Miami and Philadelphia; if the rollout continues as planned, drone delivery will move closer to a mainstream option for small, urgent and time-sensitive retail orders.
