AI Imaging Drones Push UAV Market Toward $40 Billion by 2030
AI-enabled imaging drones are driving the UAV market toward $40.6 billion by 2030. The forecast reflects rising demand for autonomous aerial data across agriculture, construction, public safety, environmental monitoring and infrastructure inspection.
The global UAV market is projected to grow from about $26.1 billion in 2025 to $40.6 billion in 2030, a compound annual growth rate of 9.2%. The aerial imaging segment, which depends heavily on drone-based imaging systems, is expected to rise from $3.9 billion to about $8.2 billion over the same period, with annual growth above 16%.
Autonomous imaging drones combine AI, self-guided navigation and high-resolution sensors, including RGB, thermal, multispectral and LiDAR systems. The technology allows operators to survey land, map sites, inspect assets and monitor facilities with less manual intervention, while real-time analytics can speed decisions and reduce costs compared with traditional aerial surveys.
ZenaTech is advancing an AI-enabled camera system with integrated LED illumination for its ZenaDrone IQ Nano indoor autonomous drone platform. The 155-gram camera module, developed by its Spider Vision Sensors unit in Taiwan, is designed to improve low-light performance for inventory management, security, inspection and defense logistics, with prototype units under testing in Sharjah, UAE, and another 20 to 30 units in production for broader trials and potential deployment.
The IQ Nano platform is built for GPS-denied, confined and high-risk indoor environments such as warehouses, armories, logistics facilities, command centers and ammunition depots. Alongside EHang’s role in Hong Kong’s low-altitude economy sandbox, Quantum Cyber’s autonomous defense platform push and Ondas unit Sentrycs’ integration into Lockheed Martin’s Sanctum counter-UAS system, the sector is moving toward wider use of autonomous drones as core tools for enterprise operations, public infrastructure and defense readiness.
