UAV Navigation and Septentrio team up to harden UAVs against jamming and spoofing

UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía and Septentrio have partnered to strengthen navigation resilience for unmanned aircraft systems.

The work centers on compatibility between UAV Navigation’s guidance, navigation and control systems and Septentrio’s GNSS receivers. The integration combines Septentrio’s high-precision real-time kinematic capabilities with its AIM+ anti-jamming and anti-spoofing technology. The anti-spoofing layer uses Galileo’s Open Service Navigation Message Authentication service, known as OSNMA, together with Septentrio’s proprietary algorithms to protect against signal interference and manipulation.

UAV Navigation said its flight control system can now automatically detect when a Septentrio receiver with OSNMA support is connected. It then gives that receiver’s data priority in the navigation logic. The companies said the setup highlights the interoperability of UAV Navigation’s systems while adding protection against growing GNSS jamming and spoofing threats.

The move targets unmanned operations in contested or electromagnetically challenging environments, where conventional satellite navigation can be degraded or deceived. By combining authenticated signals, anti-interference measures and precise positioning, the companies aim to help UAVs maintain navigation accuracy and mission effectiveness. The broader implication is clear: as unmanned aircraft take on more demanding roles, resilient navigation is becoming a baseline requirement rather than a premium feature.
