Rohde & Schwarz showcases integrated counter-drone system at CUAS Expo 2025

Rohde & Schwarz demonstrated a new integrated counter-drone system at CUAS Expo 2025, highlighting tools designed to detect, locate and neutralize rogue unmanned aircraft. The display at Thorney Island focused on the growing threat from non-compliant drones operating outside established rules.

The system combined the ARDRONIS Wi-Fi detection solution, the ARDRONIS Locate Advanced localization system and the newly released ARDRONIS Effect configured as a multiband jammer. In the demonstration, the company showed how the suite can identify and respond to drones across different operating frequencies, including devices that are non-cooperative and do not follow regulatory norms.

A central feature was ARDRONIS Effect in its multiband jammer configuration. Rohde & Schwarz said its wideband architecture allows it to jam several frequency bands at the same time. That differs from conventional jamming systems that depend on predefined frequencies. The company said the approach improves effectiveness against drones using unconventional frequencies or shifting rapidly between bands. ARDRONIS Locate Advanced added precise detection and localization, giving operators the ability to identify a drone’s position quickly and make informed response decisions. Together, the elements were presented as a single situational awareness and protection package.

Rohde & Schwarz said the demonstration drew interest from attendees and led to discussions on operational requirements. The company said it is now following up with government agencies and counter-UAS system integrators on possible ARDRONIS deployments. It also said conversations at the event pointed to rising concern over non-compliant drone activity and demand for flexible, wideband counter-drone options.

The demonstration underscores how counter-UAS priorities are shifting from narrow, frequency-specific defenses to broader systems built for unpredictable threats. As drone activity expands around critical sites and regulated airspace, solutions that can detect, localize and disrupt aircraft across multiple bands could become increasingly important for security and defense operators.
