Wing completes nearly 1,000 drone deliveries inside World Cup flight restrictions
Wing completed nearly 1,000 drone deliveries inside World Cup flight restrictions in Dallas and Charlotte. The flights took place in two U.S. host cities for 2026 FIFA World Cup matches and team base camps.
The operations ran from June 16 to July 15. Wing said it worked with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Homeland Security to conduct deliveries within Temporary Flight Restriction areas.
The FAA established nearly 250 TFRs during the tournament. The restricted zones covered match venues, fan festivals, team hotels and training sites.
The agency said more than 700 unauthorized drones were seized during the event. The seizures were part of a broader counter-drone operation involving federal, state and local authorities.
Wing operates commercial package delivery services under an FAA Part 135 air carrier certificate. FAA guidance says commercial drone package delivery operators must use the Part 135 certification process and obtain airspace authorization before starting operations, underscoring how certified operators can continue serving customers even when major events trigger tighter airspace controls.
