HOVERAir launches VERSA as a pocket gimbal that turns into a flying camera
HOVERAir has launched VERSA, a pocket gimbal camera that converts into a self-flying camera. The 2-in-1 device from ZeroZero Robotics is aimed at creators who want handheld stabilization and aerial shots from one compact tool.
VERSA works as a handheld gimbal camera in its base form. Snap-on lightweight propeller accessories convert it into an airborne camera. The system supports handheld selfies, POV footage, AI follow shots and cinematic aerial views.
The device uses a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor and records video at up to 4K at 60 frames per second. It also captures 4K 30fps footage in 10-bit HDR and 10-bit H-Log for professional workflows, with dynamic range of up to 17.5 stops. Still images are captured at 12 MP, while a 3-axis mechanical gimbal stabilizes footage in both handheld and flight modes.
VERSA weighs 230 grams and measures 36 by 31 by 147 millimeters in handheld mode. In flying mode, it extends to 176 by 31 by 147 millimeters. It offers 64 GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards up to 1 TB, with a standard 98-degree field of view and a 106-degree Ultra-Wide mode.
Flight time is rated at up to 14 minutes, with a top speed of 36 kilometers per hour, maximum take-off altitude of 3,500 meters, maximum flight altitude of 120 meters and Level 5 wind resistance. Flight features include Palm Take-off and Landing, AI Tracking, Auto Framing, Orbit, Bird’s Eye, Zoom Out and OmniTerrain, with control through a smartphone, HOVERAir Beacon, joystick, voice, gestures or the MiCo controller. The launch gives creators another hybrid option as compact cameras, gimbals and personal drones continue to converge into smaller multi-use systems.
