Honeywell Launches Kestrel Drone Navigation System for GPS-Denied Operations
Honeywell Aerospace has launched Kestrel, a drone navigation solution designed for GPS-denied environments. The system expands the company’s anti-jamming navigation toolkit and targets unmanned aircraft that need alternatives when satellite signals are unavailable or unreliable.
Kestrel centers on a tiny sensor package that includes a gyroscope on a chip. Honeywell is positioning the package as a compact alternative to larger fiber-optic gyroscopes used in inertial navigation systems.
The key function is resilience. By reducing reliance on GNSS inputs, Kestrel is intended to help drones maintain navigation capability in contested or degraded signal environments.
