DroneShield and Terma sign strategic MOU on layered counter-UAS defence
DroneShield and Terma signed a strategic MOU to advance layered counter-drone capabilities.
The agreement creates a structured framework for the two companies to validate, integrate and operationalise complementary counter-UAS technologies. It is designed to build interoperability between their systems and support coordinated market engagement. The companies are targeting customers globally, including in Denmark, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.
The MOU reflects rising demand for layered counter-UAS architectures as drone threats become more varied and harder to classify. Such systems allow operators to select sensing technologies that fit specific terrain, operating conditions and threat profiles. When supported by mature AI-enabled sensor fusion, the approach can improve situational awareness and increase accuracy in detecting and classifying uncrewed systems.
DroneShield said the collaboration would combine its counter-UAS and command-and-control capabilities with Terma’s air defence technologies. Louis Gamarra, DroneShield’s chief commercial officer, said counter-UAS operations increasingly require interoperable, multi-sensor systems that can be deployed quickly and scaled across different operating environments. Steen Trier, Terma’s vice president for global sales, said the agreement would help customers strengthen counter-UxS capability within existing defence frameworks.
The agreement comes as defence and security customers in Europe and the Middle East continue to prioritise protection against uncrewed aerial systems. It gives DroneShield and Terma a pathway to pursue emerging opportunities together and deliver coordinated, deployable systems aligned with modern operational requirements. The implication is clear: counter-drone defence is moving toward integrated, AI-supported and multi-sensor networks rather than standalone equipment.
